Absolutely amazing to see so many, many military aircraft parked so lose together awaiting disassembly. If only they could talk... You must see this for yourself! Incredible and inspires memories in you of the brave airmen who flew these warplanes.

Also called The Boneyard, over 4,000 military aircraft are parked on the base to be used for parts and scrap metal. Bombers, cargo planes, fighter jets and more have been put to rest at this almost 2,600-acre site. Specific aircraft include Hercules freighters, A10 Thunderbolts and the F-14 Tomcat. Some of the planes date back to the Cold War and Vietnam War. The site was established for plane storage in 1946 after WWII. Tucson was chosen as the area has high altitude, low humidity, infrequent rainfall and hard alkaline soil. You can take guided tours of the area, or use Google Maps, which offers an excellent aerial view of the site!

Top Tucson site. At least drive by if you don't have time to visit. But, don't think about all the tax dollars baking in the sun.
